Alderman Moore said he could wait. Unfortunately that wasnt his position when a developer who had contributed to the aldermans campaign coffers wanted to tear down the historical Adelphi theater. Then the alderman couldnt act fast enough. This is the problem with taking campaign contributions, but in particular for any alderman to take those contributions from developers and property managers. We can never be sure whether the money influenced the decisions. Our alderman asks that we trust he would never be influenced by campaign contributions. Given this citys history of corruption, Im afraid I cant accept that. The best way to eliminate any appearance of influence is to simply not take any campaign contributions at all. For an incumbent that shouldnt be an issue. Just run on your record - unless that record is something you would rather run FROM... :-(
