Alea and I discovered something today. We went to four stores - TopicsExpress

Alea and I discovered something today. We went to four stores where we thought we would be likely to discover local honey. First, we found that there is very little local honey available. Most stores carry honey from at least a couple of counties away. We did find one selection from Davidson county at one of the stores we checked. We were also on a quest for buckwheat honey, which is a medicinal honey loaded with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidents. We found three selections....from PA, IA, and FL. Nothing available from anywhere close to Lexington, NC! Why was I looking? I was looking for some for my own personal cough syrup, but I was also curious. See, a friend spoke with us about partnering on planting a few acres of buckwheat and maintaining some hives. We happen to have the available acreage, a water source, shelter, and morning sunlight......just like a happy colony of honey bees desires. So.....whatcha think? The supply isnt yet there, but we could handle that. Is there a demand?
