Aleem Farouk Ayodeji Al-egbaawi wrote; Regarding Eid Part 1 All perfect praise and adorations be to Allaah; We beseech His Peace and Blessings upon the best of Mankind(alayhi ssolaatu wasalaam). As we all know that another yearly observed Allaahs ordained act of worship is close by; it therefore necessitates us to understand some very important matters inshaaAllaah. Firstly; Is Eid Waajib or Mustahabb? Many of the Ulaama have differed regarding this matters. Ash-Shaykh Aboo Abdirrahmaan Al-Albaaniy is of the view that it is mustahabb(recommended) and not waajib(compulsory). However it is upon a scale of istihbaaban shadeeda(a strong/ stressed recommendation) based on the hadeeth of Umm Atiyya(rodiyaLlaahu anha) reported in the sunan where the Prophet(alayhi ssolaatu wassalaam) ordered the movement of women and girls alike to the eid ground (including the menstruating ones) so that they can witness the blessings of the day of eid;while the menstruating women should stay off the praying ground; It is reported that she said: there is one of us(females) that has no Jilbaab? Then the Prophet said: Let Her sister adorn her from her own Jilbaab so that she can wear it to the musollaa(praying ground). However some of the muhaqqiqeen hold the view that it is waajib(compulsory) as the evidence in suuratul Kawthar verse 2 establishes it that Allaah says: Fasolli lirobbika wanhar. (And Pray to Your Lord and Slaughter(only to Him in worship). In this verse is the wording Fasolli which is an imperative tense that guides us to the compulsion of the matter being addressed. Just as Allaah says in suuratul Ahzaab: Solluu Alayhi which also carries an imperative tense. They also say: In the hadeeth of Umm Atiyya also shows its wujuub(necessity) as indeed this hadeeth carries some fawaaidun adheema (great benefits) on this issue: 1. If it were not compuslory then the Prophet should have allowed the menstruating females stay behind. 2. The hadeeth shows the necessity of women covering up themselves with the Jilbaab(An outer non-attractive clothing that runs from the head beyond the ankles which screens off the adornments of the females). (Sister we still dey showcase her ankara, Buuba, Indian wear, Lace e.t.c! U don hear o!). 3. The Prophet(sollaLlaahu alayhi wasallam) desire that the every muslim witness the great blessings of the day of eid so this is why menstruating women were also inclusive. I say(as a student of knowledge) that: The ruling for setting out to the musollaa for solaatul eid is just as the Ulamaa has said it. Mine and Like Yours is to comply. Other rulings soon inshaaAllaah. BaarokaLlaahu feekum.
