Alex Stokes When Clint Eastwood’s latest film, “American Sniper” opens, some patients at Gulf Breeze’s Andrews Institute may see a familiar face. Physician assistant Kevin Lacz begins his medical career in January, but he can also be found on the big screen – playing himself. The film is based on a bestselling book by the late U.S. Navy Seal Chris Kyle, who came to be known as the most deadly sniper in the Iraq War and was called “The Devil of Ramadi” by the insurgents he was fighting. Lacz, who served with Kyle, acted as a technical advisor on the film and helped both actor Bradley Cooper and Eastwood understand Kyle’s background. Cooper asked Lacz if he could play himself in the film and despite having never acted before, Lacz accepted. Lacz is featured on the cover of PA Professional magazine, a publication of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. That story is linked here. “American Sniper” opens nationally on Jan. 16, but the Breeze Cinema in Gulf Breeze will hold a special screening of the film, with Lacz in attendance. Further details about the events are to be announced.
