Alexander III was called the peacemaker and a gently giant. He was very reserved in public but when around his family, especially his young children, he was very much playful. He especially loved the outdoors and would take his children ice skating; he would always test the ice first and entertain his captive audience by jumping up and down on the frozen water waiting for the bursts of laughter and glee. He preferred simple foods and would often take his meals in the kitchen with the servants. At formal dinners he liked to entertain his guests by displaying his strength by twisting fireplace pokers into bizarre shapes. He was a simple man with simple tastes...except of course, when it came to his Minnie.
