He died on May 26, 1883 in Damascus. الجزائر .... !!! الأمير عبد القادر ولد قرب مدينة معسكر بالغرب الجزائري يوم الثلاثاء 6 سبتمبر 1808 الموافق لـ 15 رجب 1223 هـ، هو رائد سياسي وعسكري مقاوم تقدم (جيش أفريقيا) خمسة عشر عاما أثناء غزو فرنسا للجزائر هو أيضا كاتب وشاعر وفيلسوف ولاهوتي وصوفي. هو مؤسس الدولة الجزائرية الحديثة ورمز للمقاومة الجزائرية ضد الاستعمار والاضطهاد الفرنسي. إعتبره الفرنسيون يوغرطة الحديث. خاض معارك ضد الحتلال الفرنسي للدفاع عن الوطن وبعدها نفي إلى دمشق وتوفي فيها عبد القادر عالم الدين، الشاعر، الفيلسوف، السياسي والمحارب في آن واحد. اشتهر بمناهضته للاحتلال الفرنسي للجزائر. وتوفي يوم 26 مايو 1883 بدمشق.
