All I can say is WOW!!!! Sometimes there are simply no words that can describe exactly what one is feeling. Today is one such feeling. Today I was presented the 2014 Heart of CASA award. It will be hung on my wall but I cant help but think that it is not simply only my award. It is OUR award. This award is presented to honor those who have displayed a strong commitment to the ideals of CASA and the children served in the community. I will say that I felt a little tear coming on. I truly never thought wed be sitting here...together....creating an MPact for these children and for each other. I have to say that its funny to watch all of this unfold......when this group of metalheads were seeking to do something with our music but were not sure which direction to go...it was my wife Saleemah Kucinski, who directed my attention back to the CASA organization. We took a step of faith and thought wed offer to set up a heavy metal concert to help the kids they serve...the abused and neglected. We started in a little donated room in Lutheran church in nowhere Bixby, OK...scratched to find bands...had no sponsors.....and no money....just a desire to do the most good with what little we had. Watching it blossom into what you see today is a dream come true for me. No..not the recognition....but watching seemingly opposite people of varying backgrounds, religions, colors, demographics, musical preferences and talents ALL unite and come together...setting aside what makes us different and at least for ONE night...focusing on a common goal...and that is helping a child and serving one another. If I had to count it up from the beginning....there are HUNDERDS of people who have their fingerprints on this but there are some who have really created the foundation to build upon. Those are Saleemah (of course), Wilma Armstrong, Jamiah Armstrong, Mark Goodnight, Eddie Laywell, Soren Leben, Basil Malik and Jason LaForest. You were there at the beginning and you remain here today...standing together to make an Mpact!
