All I can say is that Spirits got jokes! I had one of my worst days of the year, anger, crying, frustration, ready to give up and then DID give up because there was nothing left for ME to do, but cry (which I did). And when I gave up and just showed up, Spirit stepped in. I gave possibly the best performance of my life and the best part was that it want a performance- I even told the audience that. It was me and the musicians showing up, ready to play and sing from the heart- giving the music to them as an offering- no promises, no expectations- no Beyonce choreography or Madonna stage show- nothing nearly that organized. We showed up and we performed from the heart- for our love of the music, for us to have a good time. I have never performed a show in a small club where NO ONE talks. There was NO conversation! Everyone was listening. We were all connecting. And therein was the magic of the show and of the night. We exchanged love through music. We were all one for those moments. Something wonderful happened tonight and washed away all the anguish that preceded it. And I suspect that Spirit provided that anguish so I would stop trying to plan the show I wanted to give and allow to come through the show that Spirit wanted to give. Message received. I will do my best to just show up and sing. I think they guys are down with that too. Thank you Lucia Rodrigues for inviting us to share some magic. Thank you Fritz Romera and Rubem Farias for making magic music with me. Hope we do it again, soon!
