All about that camera. No edits. There is a common misconception that filters, Photoshop and creative use of selective color make interesting photos. That is simply not true. Is it fun to edit and play with colors? Yes! Will it make a bad photo magically good? Nope. I walked outside this morning and captured these five photos in the backyard. They were taken with my Sony A7. I set my camera to capture vivid color. I used a 50mm lens. I shot them with a shallow depth of field. I took time to make sure the elements I wanted were in focus. The soft light provided by overcast skies was taken into consideration. None were processed in any way. Did I want to? Yes!!! I wanted to adjust some of the color tones. I wanted to crop to improve composition. Possibly push a little detail. There is so much interest in photography. I love that! When capturing photos the first concern should be proper use of the most important tool in the photographers bag, the camera. Get it right in the camera first. Then, and only then, think about how an edit could improve tone, detail and composition.
