All my Harlem/Loves Park/Rockford Friends: I thought you might be interested in a letter I received from the McEachran Homestead Winery after I inquired if they were related to Ken and Iris McEachran, parents of Jim, John and Sylvia. Pretty cool! And, they have a Facebook under the same name. Like it!! Hi Sue; Im Herb Greenlee, the owner of McEachran Homestead Winery. My mother was a McEachran, so thats how the Greenlee name got in the McEachran lineage. Yes, I am related to Ken McEachran. Kens Grandfather and my Great Grandfather were brothers. Ken was raised on a neighboring farm to the winery. I knew Ken and his wife quite well, but only slightly acquainted with their sons. The winery is located on John McEachrans farm which came into the family in 1857. Thus it is an historic farm-a sesquicentennial farm. I was raised on this farm and left it to go to college and medical school, and practice as a physician in Chicago for 40 plus years. I retired and returned to the old homestead about 17 years ago. Looking for something to do, we restored the house, barn and over the last 10 years have established a vineyard and winery. We now bottle about 5,000 bottles of wine from our 2 acres of grapes.
