All politics aside.. this is an important conversation to have. 16 years ago, a 22 year old whos life, reputation, and future was completely destroyed on the internet for the first time in history and had no one before her to relate to. Cyber-bullying was born and Monica Lewinsky was the first unfortunate public figure to fall victim to it. Shes more than paid the price for her mistakes. I think finally bringing this to light is a good move on her part. To put a face on this relatively new form of assault for people to identify with and to humanize something that is so easily dehumanized behind a keyboard and screen. It also strikes up the conversation on slut-shaming and is important for the feminist movement. I applaud her for finally coming out of the dark and speaking on this. Im sure its caused another backlash in a negative way, but shes strong and can handle it. Just making people take a step back and think about this topic is well worth it in my opinion.
