All right, so my friend Kev had a beef with my recent one-post hiatus from politics and into the arena of mens hair dye. So, with that in mind, I will make another attempt at a positive, non-political post about something I LOVE. (Damn...this isnt as easy as I thought). Last night I was playing poker at a local casino. Ive played with most of these folks for almost thirty years. Some of the players are younger as are the dealers while other players are...gone. A couple of us old-timers (you have no idea how much I hate that term), were talking about music when a particular song came over the Muzak (or whatever its called). If you want it, here it is, come and get it, make your mind up fast... Ive always loved that song and without giving it a second thought, I said What movie was this song in? Only ONE player knew. Well, the answer is The Magic Christian. Not only did the younger players (and the dealer) have no idea about this movie, they were equally lost about the stars of it; Peter Sellers and Ringo Starr. I cant even begin to tell you how this breaks my heart. A generation growing up NOT knowing of the great Peter Sellers and his role not only in this movie but my personal favorite, Being There not to omit Dr. Strangelove among others. So, what is it they know about? The Kardashians, Honey Bo-Bo (or whatever), Lil Wayne, etc. etc. Ill end this on a NEGATIVE note by saying...I BLAME THE PARENTS!!!
