PRIZES Best in Show — $6,000 Beth Gangloff, IPA The first place beer from each style category will go on to the AHA/BJCP best in show grand prize judging which will be judged LIVE during Beer Bacon Music on Sunday, May 18th at 3pm. The first-place winner of the Brewer’s $6K will be awarded a $6,000 prize for placing best in show, and will receive full bragging rights as the winner of the world’s largest homebrew competition. Fame and fortune are sure to follow! 2nd Place “Celebrity Pick” Best Beer Award — $1,000 William Metz, Wheat This celebrity-judged, non-AHA/BJCP best brew prize will be judged LIVE at Beer Bacon Music on Saturday, May 17th by: Roche from DC 101; Joe Michaels from Resignation Brewery and The Chive; and Mark Thompson, founder and master brewer at Starr Hill Brewery, and long-time judge at the Great American Beer Fest and World Beer Cup. All of the second place beers from each style category will move on to this celebrity-best live judging. Style Winners The first-place winner of each style category will also receive a unique prize from the sponsoring brewery (we’re securing new sponsors and prizes daily, check back for updates). **JUST ANNOUNCED** Select Botanicals’ Ale, Light/Blonde (Kolsch, Cream Ale): First: Tom Frizelle Second: Grace ogilby Third: John Hutcherson First Place Style Prize: The winner of the Light/Blond Ale category will receive a year supply of some of the most exclusive/experimental hops that were not previously available to homebrewers. Select Botanicals will send a sample of our branded varieties or experimental once a month for a year. This will include Citra®, Simcoe®, Mosaic®, Equinox™, Ahtanum™, Palisade®, as well as 6 experimental samples that are as of today available to zero home brewers in the world. Sample sizes will be enough for a full single hop 10 gallon batch, or to break up. I will include descriptions of the hops with the samples.
