All these pics of beautiful neds you have lost are making me cry! This is a treasured, if blurry, photo of our little Clover and I having a kiss and a chat. She was my daughters feral/rescue yearling and she spent two weeks teaching us that advance and retreat does work! She was a big solid unhandled filly who would just throw her back feet at you rather than talk and my daughter worked absolute wonders with her. She transformed into the sweetest cuddlemonster but sadly, despite us immediately treating her as when shed first arrived, we soon discovered she had a huge worm burden. Nothing you can do said the vets. We really battled to save her steroids, anti-bs, probiotics, immune boosters, manuka bloomin honey...... but the worms were literally eating her guts away and after she lost the use of her back legs ten days later (13.02.12) we decided to let her go. Cuddling a pony who is still whinnying to you, but unable to get up was agony and the longest 40 minutes of my life waiting for the vet to arrive. I will never, ever forget the sight of my daughter lying in the field with Clovers body..... RIP little girl. I dont mind if we dont win, just please never underestimate the devastating potential of migrating redworm. Hugs to all horses and nothing but bad luck to indiscriminate, non caring breeders >:(
