All this recent talk and debate about the #GrammyAward for Best Rap Album made me research some facts which I would like to share. Eminem has put out 8 solo albums and won 5 Grammy Awards for Best Rap Album beating out Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott, Nas, The Roots( twice), DMX, Dr Dre, Jay Z (twice), Nelly (twice), Ludacris, Mystikal, Petey Pablo, Common, Flo Rida, Mos Def, Q-Tip, B.o.B. and Drake. Kanye West has put out 6 solo albums and won 4 Grammy Awards for Best Rap Album beating out Lupe Fiasco, Jay Z (three time), Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Ti, Nas, Common (twice), 50 Cent, Missy Elliott, Eminem, Beastie Boys, LL Cool J and Nelly. Outkast has put out 6 albums and won 2 Grammy Awards for Best Rap Album beating out 50 Cent, Missy Elliott, Jay Z (Twice), The Roots, Eve, Ja Rule and Ludacris. Other winners of the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album include Naughty By Nature, Fugees, Puff Daddy and the family, Jay Z, Ludacris, Lil Wayne, Drake and this year Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Lauryn Hill is currently the only female to win in this category, when she won in 1997 with the Fugees. Jay-Z holds the record for the most nominations, with nine, which resulted in one win. Drake became the first non-American winner in this category, winning in 2013. Missy Elliott, Lupe Fiasco, Nas and The Roots have received the most nominations without a win, with four each.
