Allen Gruner --- Bunky Gruner (-9 ... 5/1) Champions in 2006 and 2008. The senior statesman and son have decided that, after a two year absence, will give it another go. Hard to get a good read on, as neither has played much—if at all—since their last championship. However, expect this team to have some money thrown their way as they seem to relish in this event. Moving this tournament from Summer to Fall and driving from the senior tees will be a huge advantage for the bear who came out of hibernation this year. Overlook at your own risk. Side note: Allen should be well rested as he will be returning from Mexico after a week-long dove hunt—unless he’s been accidently shot by his brother or by Mexican Federalies. Robert McDermott---Matthew McDermott (-10 ... 5/1) Father and son tandem making their first appearance together as a team. Robert has not played in this event since 2010 while his son is making his rookie start. If Matt can listen to his father, this team could make some noise as Robert is a former Midland member. Worth a look although a McDermott has never won this tournament.
