Alliance-Philippines Solidarity Statement November 30, 2013 To the KMB’s 14th year Anniversary and the 150th Bonifacio Day Celebrations MABUHAY! The Alliance-Philippines, an alliance of progressive people’s organization in the Filipino American community in the United States greets you with the most militant greetings on your anniversary and celebrations of the 150th birthday of Andres Bonifacio, the Great Plebbian and founder of the Katipunan. The Kabataang maka-Bayan Pro People Youth was one of the first organization to come forwards to be one of the founders of the Alliance-Philippines in 2005. It was an organization born out of struggles and great contradiction in its founding in 1999 and its consolidation in 2005. KmB carried the correct line during the struggle against the extreme left errors in the 1990’s and brought the US movement into the right path into the 2000’s and again stood with the Alliance to stand for what is right for our community. Today, as you commemorate your founding day, November 30th which is also the birthday of the great liberator who waged armed struggle for independence and democracy 117 years ago. Let us learn the lessons of the Katipunan and our own movement . That is in order to rectify our errors and learn from the past, and not to repeat the erros of the past, we must be firm in the struggle for truth. You must always bear in mind, to fight for the interest of our people specifically your own sector, the Filipino-American youth in the United States. Until today the nationalist borgouise and psuedo progressive writers continue to maligns Andres Bonifacio as a hero because he never won a single battle against the enemy whcih is not true. It is our sacred duty as progressive youth to defend the Supremo from innuendoes and fight the lies with the truth. Yes, Bonifacio did not win his major battles but he fought well. We can compare him to George Washington who lost his major battle s but won the war for the American Revolution. He is like Fr.Hidalgo of Mexico who was martyred for the cause of independence without seeing the victory of his people. Unike Jose Marti of Cuba who died in battle against the Spanish colonizers in 1892, he did win in the Battle of San Juan Armory but he has to give up his ground because of the enemys superior strength. And that still it is better to have never won a battle than be a credit grabber and a hero who claim that he won the battle when he was never there in the first place. And that was Emilio Aguinaldo who ordered Bonifacio liquidated and who led the movement to discredit the leader he overthrow in a ready -made elections in Cavite. You are the modern Bonifacio’s because you know that the odds are against you in the belly of the beast are great but you will still organize and fight. You know the task ahead but you are willing to take it. You are being discredited, maligned for what you stand for, but “like a willing ox, fierced- browed you defied a thousand pointing fingers” That is precisely because you truly serve the people. Unlike those who want to wear that slogan and wear that-shirt without knowing the meaning of that slogan. It is because you are the motor and the driving force of the youth movement there is no other way but to move forward and struggle for the interest of our people. We must always remember, if Bonifacio and two of his colleagues Ladislao Diwa and Teodoro Plata did not dare to fight and organize the Katipunan, we will never be in American and we will still Spanish subjects under the Spanish King or Queen. Learn the lessons of the Katipunan well that it started with 3 people in 1892 and at the outbreak of the revolution, they were 30,000 strong organized all over the Philippines. A proof how good Bonifacio was an as youth organizer and an educator that you must emulate. It is always the rule, he or she who dares win! I know you will not only dare to struggle, but you will dare win! Mangahas Makibaka, Kamtin ang Mas marami pang tagumpay! Mabuhay ang Kabataang maka-Bayan(KMB)! Arturo P.
