Allow us to introduce you to Paddy, a smashing boy of 8 years old and 29 to the shoulder. Paddy has had a really difficult time until now, we feel he has been badly let down in the past and is at present time underweight but things have taken a turn for the better recently with some of our very own wonderful fosterers who have a world of experience with boys like Paddy and he really is doing so well!!! Key points: VERY loving and affectionate, Dream to have around in the home, gentle, beautiful eyes that just make you want to cuddle him. Very good in the car. Paddy will need an experienced and committed home. Good with other large dogs, loves to play with his ball, loves treats. Paddy is a gorgeous black boy who will look beautiful once the condition of his coat improves with TLC and he puts on some weight with good food in his tummy. Location: Living in a foster home in Norfolk. ~ Personality ~ This boy has had such a rough time and been let down on so many levels and yet still has so much love to give to the right family. He really is a dream to live with and it would be a dream come true for Paddy to be adopted in his latter years by people that truly love him for who he is. He has come so far in such a short time with his latest foster family so please don’t over look this beautiful boy. ~ In the Home ~ Generally: House savvy, ok to be left, suitable as an only dog, plays with toys, a pleasure to have in the house. Paddy will ask to go out to the toilet by either going to the door or coming up to you to ask and is totally house trained. He is simply a dream boy in the home. ~ Other Animals ~ Paddy has been very well behaved with all the greyhounds and around other big dogs but is not small dog friendly or cat friendly. Our very experienced behaviourist will be on board to help you with Paddy’s on-going training. He is currently living with a female greyhound and chickens. ~ Out and About ~ Paddy is generally well behaved on walks but dislike small dogs and cats. If he sees a large dog he will pull and twizzle around barking but this behaviour is being corrected by saying a firm NO then positive calm touch, especially stroking his ears and reassuring him. He has had a session with our behaviourist who has established that this particular behaviour is that he wants to say hello but having not been corrected on the lead previously, or properly socialised it causes him to behave in this manner which is so sad for him. Paddy should be walked in a harness and not a collar and lead and must always wear a soft muzzle when out in public. (Soft muzzles are more comfortable and easier to reward with treats). ~ Greyhounds as Pets ~ In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family environment, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the retired. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers. ~ Where Can I Live? ~ We feel Paddy would be happy living with just one other female greyhound for company but he also has the potential to be happy as a single dog with lots of attention and someone who at home for most of the day. It would be a dream come true for someone to adopt Paddy that has land/a secure large garden so he can stretch his legs safely away from small dogs. Please note we do not home dogs to households with children under the age of 8. ~ Where Am I? ~ Paddy is currently in a foster home in Norfolk so you will have to travel to meet him and collect him from Norfolk when the time comes for him to join your family. ~ Want To Adopt Me? ~ Paddy is neutered, vaccinated, de-flead, wormed and microchipped. Please be aware that a homecheck will be carried out as part of the adoption procedure. If you think you are the person that Paddy needs to make his life complete please email me [email protected] or phone me on 075 000 62648.
