Ally On Pars Postponement ALLY MCCOIST admits he is as disappointed as anyone at the postponement of the league fixture against Dunfermline at Ibrox on October 12 but he insists he was just doing his job by requesting the cancellation. Speaking at Ibrox today the manager stressed he could have been without up to 12 players for the game against the Pars, who currently sit second in League One, five points behind Rangers. Lee Wallace has been called into Gordon Strachan’s Scotland squad for the World Cup qualifier with Croatia at Hampden Park. That came after Lewis Macleod was named in the under-21 pool for the double-header at home to Slovakia then away to Georgia in Tbilisi. Arnold Peralta has also been selected by Honduras for their qualifying games against Costa Rica and Jamaica, which could see them seal a place in Brazil next summer. In addition to that, Andy Little and Dean Shiels are also on standby for Northern Ireland and could receive late summons for their games with Azerbaijan and Israel while several younger players in the Gers squad have been called up for under-19 duty with Scotland in Belarus from October 6-16 for UEFA Championship qualifiers. McCoist fully understands that fans are frustrated at the game been pushed back to a yet-to-be-determined new date but he feels it was the right decision to make. He said: “It’s my priority to look after the team and get the best results for the team and indeed for the supporters. “There is absolutely no one more disappointed than me that the game is off but we just feel we have a lot more players on international duty that one or two think. “Obviously the three certainties are Wallace, Peralta and Macleod but we’ve also got Shiels and Little on standby and I think we have seven under-19s who certainly make up the majority of the squad. “So we’ve got a possibility that 12 players could be away on international duty. I’m not doing my job if I don’t give Rangers the best opportunity to win a game, particularly against a team second to us in the league. “I’ve been in touch with a good number of the fans, Andy Kerr from the Assembly I’ve kept in touch with, just to let them know our views on it. “As soon as we had any information on the cancellation of the fixture believe me I’ve done my best to inform our supporters who do have travel plans to make and spend a lot of their hard earned cash to come and watch us.”
