Almost 2 years after Andys medulloblastoma diagnosis, Andy is back - TopicsExpress

Almost 2 years after Andys medulloblastoma diagnosis, Andy is back to his normal self (as normal as any kid in our family gets anyway!), and I think the family as a whole is as back to normal as it gets. For some reason, I have been thinking a lot about the things I missed out on because of cancer, all the negative things that I didnt want to think about or acknowledge while Andy was in treatment because it was too hard to think about, and I couldnt do anything about it anyway. I decided today was the day to go through all the cards/mail that was sent to us while Andy was going through chemo, which I havent been able to face because of fear that it would only make me tear up and remember Andy having cancer. I now know that I will never be able to part with all the kind words and thoughtfulness of so many people nearby and all over the world (literally!). I have a big tote that now holds all the things that people mailed to us, so that Andy and my family will always know just how much support we received. Although I did tear up and was overwhelmed with emotions reading all that was sent to us, I was reminded of just how important it was for all the support we received. Honestly, I do not think my family would still be intact if it wasnt for people being so supportive and always being willing to lend a listening ear. I am determined in 2015 to give as much of myself to others, as others have given to me and my family. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!
