Almost uniformly, Huaming residents say the only jobs open to them are in dead-end menial positions, like street sweeper. Construction started in March 2006, and was finished just 16 months later. The city is made up of six- to nine-story buildings divided into gated compounds of a dozen or so buildings each. Commercial space is officially limited to two streets, making the rest of town a quiet, residential area centered on the new public schools.
