Aloha BDJ, what an Excellent Performance we all worked so hard - TopicsExpress

Aloha BDJ, what an Excellent Performance we all worked so hard for at the 50th annual Kauai Terno Ball this past Saturday at the Kauai Marriott Resort and Spa. Much mahalo to you all for coming to our dance rehearsals week after week to learn the choreography and learning our dance routines and putting them alltogether in one suite. You were all so AMAZING on stage that night from the Instrumentalists, to the bamboo pounders (excellent job) and of course the dancers. Till this day, I have been receiving texts msgs and phone calls on how beautiful our performance was and about our very attractive costumes. A special thank you to Donna McCalla for ordering all of our props and jewelry so we can all look awesome on stage and Tita and Lisa for organanizing everyone with the right costumes along with all the headpieces and dance props. Many thank yous to Krystal and Steve Kline and Uncle Roland and Nt Pat for transporting all of our bamboos and gongs to our dance rehearsals and at the Kauai Marriott. Once again all of our frustrations, hard efforts and patience really paid off. Much hugs with aloha, Iban.. Our next dance rehearsal is at the Waimea NBC Courtroom at 3:30pm on Sunday , September 28th. Girls , please bring all of your blue and green scarves. We will attempt to learn Binaylan with the boys playing the gongs (by the way I dont know who has the gongs, but we need them for dance rehearsals.) Mr. B , Donna , and I will first begin going over the basics to both newbies and alumnis starting with the standard waltz, the 6 sway balances which are (sway balance, double sway balance, sway balance with a raise, sway balance with a hop, sway balance with a turn, and sway balance with a waltz) , komingtan , the arm and feet placements 1st to the 5th, and basic muslim moro movements. Now that our big event is over we need to remember and go over our basics at all dance rehearsals. I also strongly requests that all the girls bring a long flowing skirt, so you all know how to place your hands while holding your Maria Claras. Your skirts can be ankle to below the knee length and make sure it is one with a full flow. Bringing your skirts would allow you all to better handled the Maria Claras while performing on stage. Remember, Practice makes perfect....Perfect Practice makes Permanent!! Have a great week. We see you all on Sunday. Aloha and hugs, IBAN P.S. I just got 10 coconut halves from my High School Classmate Roland Cacal. Please, if you have friends or relatives making kankanen , please have them save their coconut halves for us to use as dance props. Much mahalo in advance. We have cracked mostly all of our coconuts and we need to build up our coconut halves supply. Thank you.
