Aloha beernuts! Time once again for an unwarranted and unsolicited critique of a yet another micro brewery from the Deadeye Beer Dude. This editions victim, the Yorkholo Brewing Company in Mansfield. Saturday Red and I got a wild hair up our you know whats for pizza so we trekked to Corning, NY, for a large pie at Aeniellos Pizzeria. Great pizza by the way and worth the drive. Shell, being the good sport that she is, agreed to stop in Mansfield for a few pints at Yorkholo. This year Yorkholo was voted best brewery at Taming Of The Brews and now I know why. Delicious, tasty, satisfying, complex, layered. And that was just their homemade birch beer. Their beer meanwhile was that and more. Pine Creek Raspberry Wit-sweet, but not too much, tart, absolutely delicious. Dead River Amber Ale-full bodied, malty goodness. Armenia Mountain American Strong Ale-kick ass and as advertised strong with 9 % abv. And finally Backwoods Lager-light bodied and really drinkable. We were fortunate enough to be served by one of the owners, Ashley, who was friendly, knowledgeable and quite cool. The bar/restaurant meanwhile has a rustic feel with brick walls, hardwood floors and inviting vibe. The food? Not a clue because we were stuffed with pizza. If youre headed north along Route 15 in Tioga county do yourself a favor and stop in at Yorkholo for a liquid respite. Per usual always party responsibly and overtip your bartender or server. Aloha from the Deadeye Beer Dude.
