Along with Alex Cole Hamilton and Hannah Bettsworth I am pleased to be part of the Lib Dem team to represent Lothian region at the 2016 Scottish election. A native of Sheffield I attended university In Bangor, North Wales and later lived near Aberystwyth before moving to Scotland with my husbands work in 1981. We lived in Penicuik for 8 years and have been in Dunbar for 25. I qualified as a social worker in 1986 from Edinburgh University. I worked in Midlothian for 16 years and have been a hospital social worker at Liberton Hospital since 2003. I also did voluntary work for many years at Penicuik CAB. I have been a longstanding Lib Dem Campaigner. I have been a General Election candidate both sides of the border and was Midlothian Candidate in 2001. I have stood for Holyrood lists since 1999, was Midlothian Candidate in 2003 and was a Euro election candidate in 2014. I was an East Lothian Councillor from 2007-12. I am currently Vice Chair/Secretary of Dunbar Community Council and Convenor of my local Community and Police Partnership as well as being on a number of other local and national committees.. I have used experiences from work and personal life to develop a range of party policy including plastic bag tax, hospital nutrition and preesntion of abuse of older people and the abolition of detention of child asylum seekers.. As a social worker and former councillor I have a long experience of speaking up for people which I will bring to the role of MSP.
