Alright DIY peeps, heres my write-up on Tein Street Basis install on my 08 350z base model. Pictures will be attached, as well as description on each. Tools needed: -17(X2),12,11 & 8mm wrenches -17,14, & 12mm sockets (+ key and socket for lug nuts) -needle-nose pliers -spring compressor kit -torque wrench (unless youre brave, or badass) -WD-40 or any penetrating oil -impact gun(optional, but highly recommended) -tape measure -razor knife -plastic bag(optional) -First off, youll want to go ahead and pre-assemble the coilovers out of the box, and be sure the kit has included all necessary hardware and parts. -I began by jacking the drivers side of the car up, removing wheels and placing a plastic bag over the brake assembly to prevent WD-40 from dripping onto the rotors. -For the front*, youll want to remove the strut tower bar(14mm) and 4 clips off of it for the wiring loom, for the upper strut nuts(12mm), disconnect brake line from bracket(12mm), disconnect ABS line, upper control arm wishbone nut(17mm and pliers for cotter pin), stabilizer link nut(17mm) and lower shock mount nut/bolt(17mmx2). -For the rear*, youll want to remove the upper stud nuts(12mm), shock bolt(17mm), spring bucket bolt/nut(17mmx2), spring, upper mount, and lower mount(will be reused). -Once you have the stock suspension removed from the car, you can compress the front springs and remove the top hat nut(17mm) with an impact wrench, or somehow without one. Youll want to cut the dust cover as stated in the instructions(see pictures) and slip whats left back on the bottom side of the top hat. Torque the top hat nut to 44ft/lbs(17mm) as stated in the instructions,. (I gave up and just used an impact gun on LOW setting, seeing how I didnt have the proper tool to tighten the recessed nut). -Once tightened, the shocks are ready to go back on the car, in reverse order of uninstalling the factory struts. My front height setting was 4 threads from the bottom, about a 5/8 drop in the front. -On to the rear, youll want to remove the top hat nut(12mm) swap over the lower bushing, metal sleeve, top hat, upper bushing(and washer depending on the type of upper bushing you have), and seal(once ready to install). Torque top hat nut to 22ft/lbs(12mm/8mm). I would highly recommend buying new rear bushings and seal for the rear struts, as they have a common tendency to clunk loudly (about $100 shipped from Courtesy Nissan). -Set the Tein spring on the factory lower mount, making sure to line up the coil with the indention on the rubber. Use the upper derlin mount and height adjustment threaded ring with collar(s) to set to your preference & install the entire set back into the bucket. Shock will bolt back in the same as the factory one, dont forget the seal. My rear height setting was bottomed out with the top collar removed, to give a slightly lower drop. (about 1/2 drop, so far) Ill update this post with my SPC camber arm/toe bolt install Wednesday. LMK if anyone has questions, Ill be happy to explain and clarify further. Happy DIYing!
