Alright. I have a goal set for myself. I want to compose at least a single song in SATBB format by the time I graduate High school. However, it shall be an all male piece in my eyes. I know, it sounds weird. Youre probably asking You do realize that SATBB means that there are Soprano and Alto parts in there, right?. Yes, I know. I would love to find good Counter Tenors to fill in those parts. The piece shall be done in an octet. 2 Counter Tenors. A single for each of the higher voices *Soprano and Alto*. Add a Tenor 2 for the lower high notes. Add a Tenor 1 for the higher tenor range. From there, add 2 baritones for the medium to lower notes. Last but not least, add 2 Basso Profundos. They will bring out the low resonance. In that aspect, here is how it looks. Soprano- Counter Tenor Alto- Counter Tenor Tenor 1- Tenor 1 Tenor 2- Tenor 2 Baritones- 2 Baritones Bassos- 2 Bassos Now, the piece could be used with the regular roll call for SATBB, but this is the way I would love to hear it! Counter Tenors are beautiful in classical music. They would need to be power tenors. Since high male voices stick out, and they would both have different parts, it would almost be like cannon style solos, yet, in sync and harmony with one another.
