Alright. Ive been browsing the various black entertainment and civil rights FB pages to observe their grievances regarding the killing of black males by law enforcement and to ascertain what it is exactly they are complaining about. There is an overwhelming objection that stands out prominently above all others and that is that law enforcement officers arent being prosecuted as equally as black youth who shoot and kill other blacks. They believe apparently, that if you are in law enforcement and shoot a black youth that you should be incarcerated for doing so regardless of the circumstances surrounding the shooting. What I have also observed, is that there is no accountability whatsoever regarding the behavior of said black youth. There are no standards of right and wrong, no benchmark regarding what is considered lawful and unlawful. Apparently if you are a black male who chooses to rob a store and attack a police officer, or point a gun at a police officer (toy or not), etc. it should be noted that you as a black male committing said offenses should be left up to your vices and those officers who are responding should be more sensitive to you criminal behavior. I find it astonishing that there was not one instance by those complaining, where the attitude of personal responsibility of the black youth was brought up. The onus of personal responsibility in nearly every case is heaped upon the officer involved but is conveniently left unnoticed regarding the perpetrators. While yes Im certain that there are cases of excessive force by police, I am however extremely hesitant to paint law enforcement with the broad brush that race hustlers like Al Sharpton Bill de Blasio and Russell Simmons are. Im not willing to make it out to be the common instance that these bottom feeders will do to line their wallets on the backs of dead black youth. I wondered aloud on these pages whether the issue of personal responsibility or lack thereof played a role in the deaths of Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown and Eric Garner? As predicted like clockwork, there wasnt one response to my questions. Is personal responsibility an unattainable attribute in the lives of black males? I keep reading and hearing that these protesters are exercising their solidarity(puke) with the families of the slain black youth and Im disgusted by their lack of personal responsibility. There is no moral equivalency in the actions of these protesters and the actions of the officers involved in these shootings. This whole issue of law enforcement vs. black youth is NOT a group issue, its an individual one. Each case, each circumstance is different. We are taught when we are young in most families, the difference between right and wrong. While we have laws on the books governing our behavior in society the ultimate foundation is laid at home and its painfully obvious that black male youths are not recipients of that basic foundation for one reason or another. All one has to do is observe black culture over the last twenty plus years and one could deduce that self-respect, responsibility and values such as empathy and the respect of others are severely lacking. Instead, these core values have been replaced by the notion that everyone else is to blame for my situation and the its not my fault mentality. Until theres a shift in attitudes exhibited by black male youth there will continue to be a proportional response by those in the law enforcement community. ~fs
