Alright: MAJOR KUDOS to Tony at Port Orchard Public Works - water - TopicsExpress

Alright: MAJOR KUDOS to Tony at Port Orchard Public Works - water quality department. I called this morning to complain about the water and to ask questions about what could be the problem. I fully expected the bureaucratic party line, but instead got a huge surprise. He was honest, admitted theyd had a lot of complaints and that they had increased the flushing of the lines to 3 times a year instead of once. He offered to have someone come flush the lines and said theyd be in touch. I expected a phone call in the next week (after) I paid my bill. I went home for lunch 45 mins later, and Tony himself was there. OMG...he was so helpful and informative, and said hed flush the pipes from my house to the meter. He ended up replacing the meter, and then came up to the house and told me that I was right, the water was the color of Guinness and these facts contributed to the problem: 1. Im on a dead end street, so the sediment settles there at the end of the line; 2. Theres no hydrant, so the problem is worse. 3. The meter was old and needed to be replaced. Tony told us that he ran the water till it was clear, but to expect some discoloration the first few minutes. Sure enough, we ran the water in the kitchen and bathrooms and it was DARK brown, rust, orange/red. (kinda like mango salsa, Rex Landaker) Anyway, I wanna give thanks and credit where it is due. I immediately ran the washer (COLD) and some faucets, so hopefully it will clear. But Im very impressed and pleased at the service and the integrity of this guy.
