Alright. Since the shooting at MPHS a couple days ago, when the school makes an announcement voice that they will be ADDING extra security to the school just this morning. What bugs me ARE the comments. Why not add these to all schools statewide? or Why is only MPHS close for this entire week and not other schools so they can ALL grieve together? 1) Why not all schools? Because ALOT of schools in Washington already has security or added more since the last major incident that happened similar to this. 2) School FUNDS and BUDGET! Not only that, since students were hurt, 3 are confirm dead now. One of the girls in the Hospital passed away Sunday night. THE families are most likely to sue the school/district for what have happened. 3) If metal detectors and bag check were added to doors, how long would you think that would take to have close to 3K or 4K students to go through? Thatll make them all be late to class everyday no matter how early you get there. Due to the fact its not just that, students will get pulled off to the side no matter what if the alarm goes off. Delaying time just to get onto campus and be checked. PERSONALLY I hate that. Everytime I go through one I GET pulled off to have a body scan and pat down more than once, EVEN with taking everything metal sensible off. The ONLY thing I cant take off is that freaking permanent retainer. And you know what? Thats the only thing why it gets set off or the guards are concern to have me double checked. In other words, Anyone who has had braces or currently have them will get checked twice. Dont listen to your orthodontist or other security people saying that the metal used in your braces wont get detected, cause they do! 4) I just think if they added metal detectors the kids become more sketchy to see who can get away with a weapon on them. Okay onto the one with why other schools arent cancelled. No other schools are cancelled week long like MPHS. THE OTHER SCHOOLS arent effected the way MP was. Why make other districts and schools do the same thing? Thats what they have counseling for in the other school who have been affected by what happened. A traumatized event happened at that school, that school deserves that off time. But that week cancelled will be added to the end of the school year for them. Did we cancel school for SPU? No but we respected and grieve with them from wherever we were at. Did we cancel a week of school for SHS when the incident happened? No. Yeah thats my rant for the morning. Please dont comment with arguments or correcting me. Im just placing my thoughts down from waking up. Im not going to spend time fixing grammar or change structure around.
