Alright folks, I got the skinny from the doctor today. I have 2 ruptured discs in my neck (C5-6 and C6-7.) The highest one is an older injury with spurs (although I have no idea what happened and when) and is not as bad. The lower one, however, will require surgery. Its deforming my spinal cord, and its causing tons of issues, including SEVERE pain in my back and arm, loss of reflexes in my arm and leg, significant weakness in my arm, among other things. So I will start the school year by getting my students settled in. Then, take a short break for a cervical fusion surgery on a August 19. My recovery should be about 4-6 weeks, and if all goes as planned, Ill be back in the classroom for the rest of the year. Macy has a clinic appointment tomorrow. Shell have two new things. The first is a push of methotrexate, and the second is that I wont be there. This is her first clinic visit and chemo without me. It wont be a good day, on my end of things, but I know that shes in good hands with her Nana. Goodnight!
