Alright guys im just going to let you know. From what I remember in first year, you cant be put in probation FIRST SEMESTER. However your GPA from first semester will factor into your second semester GPA so thatll likely put you in probation or rtw if you dont do well again. IF you are below 1.67 (1.73 for engineers i believe) then you will get an email from a faculty or program advisor asking you to make an appointment with them. In this appointment they will tell you your constraints (ie. maximum # of courses you are allowed to take) and have you sign a copy of the contract that THEY arrange. If you dont get an email, youre not on probation. Now im going to cover what probation actually is. It means your GPA overall is below a quota (i stated above). You will have constraints placed upon you in the next semester and by the end of the semester one of three things will happen based on how the semester went. 1. Your CGPA (GPA for that semester only) is above the quota AND your overall GPA is above the quota -> then you will have escaped Academic Probation and your enrollment status will be Clear 2. Your CGPA is above the quota, but that didnt raise your overall GPS enough to pass the quota -> you will remain on Academic Probation. 3. If your CGPA is below the quota, then your GPA will actually lower and you will be required to withdraw for a semester. I really hope none of you need this.
