Alright kids, I hope everyone’s summer has been going well thus far and also that you’re getting ready for the upcoming semester (and to attend geology club meetings). For those who are about to, or already have graduated, and want to get that lovely Professional Geologist exam out of the way early, the Kentucky-American Institute of Professional Geologists (KY-AIPG) will be hosting a professional development course. Essentially this course is a review of geology in order to prepare for the exam, which is maintained by the National Association of State Boards of Geology (ASBOG). The deadline to apply for the course is the 22nd of this month (August), and is scheduled to take place Friday, September 12, 2014. Keep in mind that the deadline to register to take the actual exam, which is through ASBOG itself, is the 26th of August; the exam would take place October 10, 2014. Again, this course is provided by KY-AIPG and is only a preparatory class. The costs are as follows (prior to Aug. 22): Standard: $100 ---- AIPG Members: $75 ---- Government Employees: $85 ---- Students: $20 ----Student AIPG Members: FREE So I’d recommend you take advantage of a free course by joining AIPG; also, it’s something to put on a resume.
