Alrighty, let’s do some BTS goodness. This is a shot I uploaded last week, and got a stack of questions about how I did it. So he’s a full description, as well as shots straight out of the camera. First off, the EXIF: D800, 135mm F2. 1.160, F2, ISO320. Lighting info: I had a 5’ Octa on Camera left, and a bare bulb speed light on camera right behind them. The base is a 12 shot Brennie. I had the bare bulb light there because I knew I was going to create a sunset in post, so I had the bare bulb there to rim, because that would help sell the sunset, and make it look real. The image on the LEFT is the shots Straight out of camera. Zero RAW processing, and zero lens correction. Once I’ve processed the RAW files and done a correction, THAT is the point that I stitch the images, so I get a processed version of the shot on the left, and I get it well blended together as well (because I’ve already removed the vignettes and told Photoshop to blend all the layers together for me). This way, the stitched image is seamless, and looks perfect to start editing. The image on the left here is purely for demonstration purposes so that you guys can see the frames. Once the stitching was done, I started off with some basic colour correction, and then I did some dodging and burning. Then I added the flare, and toned the flare to be a little warmer. Once that was done, I toned the overall image, making the whole shot warmer and matching a sunset, if there were one. Once that was done, it was just a matter of cropping and sharpening. Yes yes yes, I know the sunlight is bright. Yes yes yes, I know that the composition is going against a bunch of rules. I chose to do it like this because I like it like that :)
