Alrighty, then! Randy J. Duke assigned me the number 7 for things - TopicsExpress

Alrighty, then! Randy J. Duke assigned me the number 7 for things you may not know about me, so here goes (better late than never). 1. My first, most important thing in the world to me is helping underprivileged and/or underrepresented kids. It is saddening that as large and developed as West Houston is, there really are so few resources for great kids who do not come from families with means; as such, so many kids are unable to pursue some talents and interests, which can open a very dangerous door. 2. That said, I hate it that so many kids talents and interests are squelched because of lack of access. My if I could do anything goal is to have a non-profit foundation that would provide kids a safe, structured place to pursue interests in arts programs, sports (and maybe even have a place to stay if they needed one). I want to make this happen. 3. I have a paralyzing, crazy fear of snakes that has gotten worse as I have gotten older. Seeing a snake on TV makes me freak out, but if I happen to see a picture of one--in a book or magazine--you can be assured that it will be thrown across the room. 4. As a kid, I wore twister braces--more recognizable as Forrest Gump braces--on my legs. That is what I attribute to my obsession with high heels and cute shoes in general. Wait! Maybe I could argue that shoes should be covered by insurance as a form of therapy? 5. Think of THE dorkiest, THE nerdiest, THE most awkward kid...That was me. But if you knew me growing up, you already knew that...To sum it up in one word: CRINGE-WORTHY. I am a lifelong nerd who will always wallow in the mire of dorkitude. But the older I get, the less I mind it. 6. Other most important things in the world to me are being sincere, being kind, and following through. If it is untrue, hurtful, malicious, I dont say it. If I dont mean it, or cant support it, I dont pretend to. Silence can be a virtue, and as said by Shelby in Steel Magnolias, (which by the way is the most quotable movie of all time) ...An ounce of pretense [or meanness, for that matter] is worth a pound of shit. Im just try to be a good person. 7. On the other hand, I am anything BUT self-righteous. I am actually very self-deprecating and very sarcastic. (Sarcasm is my super power--I have a cape and tights and everything! But thats another story...) 8. My and-one-to-grow-on is that I am very happy, very blessed, and I very much am thankful to God for my many blessings and my friends and family who love me just like I am.
