Altered is book #2 in Beyond the Brothel Walls and Ill be steaming up device screens with this M/M romance between the Angel of Death and a demon hybrid. It is a stand alone, but isnt coming out till next year. Korrigan and Petres story sees an interesting twist too, so they do make an appearance, but no spoilers. Yall are the first to see this outside of beta readers and my lovely editor. Okay she hasnt seen it yet either, so I apologize for minor errors. Enjoy the excerpt: Demons ruled the world, and I was to blame. Green eyes glowed beneath the brim of a black fedora and reflected in the yellowed mirror. A television hung from the bar wall and leapt from the fiery brimstone and earthquakes to old infomercials revolving around self-help. Demons and angels were selfish creatures and masters of helping themselves. No humans complained. I chuckled to myself. Music blared in the background as the television looped, and my eyes scanned the rolling text. Fingers tipped my hat, and the long coat slid from my shoulders. Just another day in paradise. A quick glance around the bar showed no signs of my assistant Belle or Mr. Westcott— our elusive client. Coughing on my cigarette, I snuffed it out. Amber liquid swirled in my glass; the bitter burn did not erase my past or shape the future. Nobody changed overnight—not me, the guy two stools down, or even the bartender clanking glasses in the sink. I didn’t want to amend my ways and doing so put the world at risk. The bar door jingled open, and I glanced over my shoulder as Belle waltzed in late as usual; the demons parted faster than the red sea. They didn’t like the law, and we were the police, judge, and jury of Halifax, Nova Scotia. She asked, “Mr. Westcott isn’t here yet?” “Hell’s bells, you took the call.” I glanced at her; Belle fidgeted. “What’s he look like anyhow?” Belle shrugged. “He sounded cute.” I waved at her comment, paying more attention to the self-help infomercial. Did anyone believe this crap? No one flip-flopped life in a matter of moments, but these experts claimed otherwise. Experience taught me better than that. I tilted my head, following the scrolling words. Read this book and have a better tomorrow for only nineteen ninety-five. I chuckled at the thought. Had we learned nothing from the past? “He said someone kidnapped his sister.” I nodded, but my eyes glued to the ridiculous program. Living in a semi-rebuilt post-apocalyptic world run by demonic hoards, magical beings, and blood-sucking vampires, they could not have given a rat’s ass about self-help or a better tomorrow. We lived in the moment. “But you don’t know what he looks like?” Belle laughed, shaking her head. “Spoken like a man. You just want to know if you can sleep with him.” I shrugged. “You’re such a pig, Dorian.”
