Although a pedigree may be loaded with sport titles, there is no way to determine actual fight drive from prey based sport work or dogs that bark from frustration at decoys holding sleeves (toys). Working or sport titles on pedigrees also say nothing about how dogs naturally are with children, in the home, with other animals, the handler, etc... The list can go on and on. The reality of titled dogs and even working dog champions in that most have never really been used to fight a real person, track a real person, or even retrieve an object without being forced to do so. There is a reason why most military and police dogs do not even have formal registration papers and many are not even considered pure bred. If you are ever considering a dog or puppy for a certain working purpose, whether it be a family protector, police dog, or any purpose where you will rely on the natural abilities of the dog, please remember to look closely at the temperament traits of the parents or dog you are choosing carefully and take titles, and any training with a grain of salt. As the quality of trainers rise, the ability for charades also rise. Most of what you need in a working dog can be tested without formal training and actually better to test without formal training. Just food for thought.
