Although a thought provoking speech, it is full of ambiguity. In a nutshell, the excerpt implied that racism, deceit and hypocrisy are attributes within the institution and culture of American freemasonry (although times are changing). He makes a connection between masonic allegorical stories and the historical struggle of Black America. In gaining insight to these references we know that historically neither King Solomon nor Hiram Abif were white figures. As a result, Farrakhan makes the assumption that freemasonic allegory can be compared to issues surrounding the social death and resurrection of Black America. Finally, he makes the comparison to “Shriners” only achieving the wisdom of the Qur’an at higher degrees, while many Muslims and non-Muslim freemasons alike refer to the Qur’an as a VSL (1st degree), which, in a sense makes anything above “ancient craft” or “blue house” masonry (MM/3rd) unnecessary. And again…that’s his opinion….
