Although we are evolved apes, you have to wonder how evolution is still affecting us. For example, the desire to eat fatty, high caloric foods is a primal instinct because early humans did not have a steady food supply, so they gorged when there was plenty to store fat for when times were lean. Men have a super strong drive to procreate because early men were hunters and protectors and they put their lives on the line every day so that they took every chance that they could get to pass on their genes, in case they were eaten by a saber tooth tiger that day.... but the one thing I dont understand in our modern primate behavior, is the vicious, jealous, catty backstabbing that women constantly do to one another over men and other resources.... is this a throwback to early women who had to fight for the best mate and provider? I am just curious. So many women are easily ready to rip each other a part if they think one of them has something the other does not. Where does this instinct come from in our evolution? I am thinking that maybe it has to do with competing for the finest mate with the strongest genes?
