Always learning something new in lure-making, These lures were planned as a floating stickbait. To get them to work well, I find it best if they just float. Too much bouyancy inhibits lateral action. So, I made up the first blank & added lead in all the right places, until I got a sufficiently low-lying floating profile, allowing for foil, hooks, etc. adding extra weight. Then I went ahead & sprayed it up. Now, for this addition, I wanted a really tough lure that could take on anything, so, I fitted the heaviest guage wire I can manage by hand, 2.3mm. Also, to get a transluscent effect on the foiled paint-job & to protect it, requires several layers of clear E-tex, three, in this lures case. Finally, to compliment the no-nonsense, tough-guy attitude, I slipped on some serious hooks.. VMC 7560TIs in 3/0. I expect some of you have already guessed the lesson I learnt.. yes, my floating lures are now very-slow-sinkers.. lol. Not that thats a loss, of course, I reckon they might even be verging on suspending in the salt.. & I already have a fine sinking version of this lure that has a great action.. but back to the drawing board for the floater..
