Al’s thought for today: The worst bit of journalism for some time. Little Ed Mily is coming under fire by the Mail due to having a Marxist father. His presence as the leader of the Labour Party is a direct result of the Marxists and the even more dangerous Cripto – Marxists who lead many of our unions. His current thinking tends to show the thread which leads back to the days when his father surrounded himself by the then intelligencia running old Labour. I regard Marxism and Socialism in the same way as a cup of instant coffee. “Like a cup of hot Marxism sir? That’ll be a heaped spoonful. Wouldn’t you like a cup of Socialism for the wife? That’ll be a half spoonful.” I am myself not averse to a bit of caffeine but my coffee intake is extremely frugal as too much caffeine is bad for you. By what has been written and the inclusion of a picture of the grave, The Mail has enhanced Little Ed’s poll ratings and reduced to gutter level the reasonable question: ‘How Red is Ed?’ Further more, some quote made by a teenager that he ‘hates Britain’ is hardly proof that the man was some kind of fifth columist. At that age, I was espousing rather socialist ideas because naively I believed that voting Labour would result in a society based on ability and meritocracy rather than wealth and that all would have an equal start in life by reason of receiving an education which just a few of us poor working class grammar school and high school kids were receiving. In the event, rather than all levels being brought up to the highest, I realised that in fact all levels were reduced to the mean. I was also in love with idea of nationalisation whereby I had a share in national wealth whereas in fact I had a share in uneconomic, clapped out industries which were costing me a fortune in tax to maintain. As we get older and learn the true facts, we change. Mili Senior’s war record seems to prove that he no longer held his earlier feelings of hatred and we must discount that part of his history and concentrate on the impact on Mily junior of growing up in a rampant Marxist espousing environment.
