Am I the only one not offended by the automatic pump system for milk abhishegam in BC? I aint no Hindu priest , but carrying the kudam is between you and Him. The act of you being vegetarian, clean mind and soul, charity during your fast and beyond should be given much more importance than the act of pouring the milk itself, right? I saw the system myself on Saturday, and based on initial observation I can say the system: 1. Reduces waiting time for the pot to be passed and milk to be poured. reduces jam inside the temple, easier for the elderly and children to move. 2. Lessens the burden on the temple priests and lets them be focused more and chanting mantras and other activities. There was an estimate that around 300k pots will be presented during the Thaipusam period, each pot weighing at least 1-2kgs or more. Imagine the stresses on those priests? 3. Devotees milk pots might contain foreign object (coins/rice/veppellai) that might block the plumbing inside the temple. The filtration system reduces that, 4. Manual pouring causes spillage, in and around the deity.Much cleaner this was. 5. No more lost or switched kudams So why not? Whats your argument?
