Am now in Israel, which is a mixture of 1st world and 3rd world (somewhat like SA). The pace here is much faster, cost of living much higher (apart from airtime and internet which is less than half the cost of the same in SA), and salaries much higher, too. And just as in SA cities, people throw their cigarette butts, snacks wrappings, etc in the streets, making the place look filthy. I came via London, where most of the suburbs are really clean - and where everyone uses the dustbins. What is it that makes Israelis and S.Africans have so little pride in public cleanliness..?
