Amabhukudwana present new album Published: 16 hours ago | by Danny Tese  OneVybe caught up with Maskandi group Amabhukudwana, which was formed in 2012. Maskandi music is African folk music and is predominantly performed by the Zulu . The group members are originally from Marinoha village in Kezi, Zimbabwe and they met while still at school. Speaking to OneVybe, group member Christopher Buqilibententhe Ncube Mzilankatha said their music has been well received and people in the industry have encouraged them to stay strong as there are greater challenges ahead. When asked why they decided to do Maskandi music, Christopher said, It is because Maskandi is part of our traditional music. Their main influences have been Mtshengiseni Gcwensa from KZN and iZingane zomama as well as the Late Mahawukela Mseleku from KZN South Africa. The group performs around Johannesburg in South Africa and on the 26th of July they will be live at Hilbrow Theatre. In December they will tour Zimbabwe with shows in in Kezi, St Joseph, Maphisa, Filabusi and Bulawayo. Christopher said that their music is about real life situations including the main track on the track Khuzan Amaphoyis AseGoli. The group has about 15 members and comprises three groups, which are Amabhukudwana, Insukamini and Intombizombango. In 2013, the group released iNsukami (Iqhawe Lakomhlahlandlela) and this year they have released Amabhukudwana (Khuzan Amaphoyis AseGoli).
