Amable Stoqua, son of a Chief Lamab (Amable) Stoqua (son of Chief Joseph Stokwa and Mary Barbara Aquainsack) was born 1824 in Golden Lake, Ontario, and died November 09, 1896 in Golden Lake, Ontario. He married Margeret Bernard on 1839 in Golden Lake, Ontario. In the 1851 Census of Westmeath, the Stoqua household is listed as Amable 27, Margaret 25 with their children Mary 6, Matthew 4, Catherine 2 all living in one log house. By the 1861 Census the family is listed as Indian, all said to have been born in Canada West and living in Westmeath Township. The family members listed are Lamab (40), Margaret 42, with their children Mary 16, Mathew 14, Cathren 11, Ann 8, Mitchell 5, Lucy 3, Susell 1. They were listed as hunters. By 1871, Lamab and Margeret are in Algona Township. Lamab 57, Margaret 45, their children Matthew 24, Elizabeth 23, Mary 5 months, Mary Anne 17, Catherine 21, Michell 17, Louis 15, Moses 6, Ignace 2, Margaret 9. They were listed as hunters and fishermen. All except Margaret are listed as born in Ontario, Margaret in Quebec. Elizabeth is likely the wife of Matthew Stoqua and 5 month old Mary is their newborn daughter. In 1881 Census, Amable Stoqua is 57, Margaret 54, were living in a home with their son Matthew 34, and sons John 12 and James 5 in Pembroke Township. Amable and Margeret are listed as half-breeds, no origin destination are given for the children. Amable was listed as a hunter and Matthew as a laborer. In 1891, Amable 68 is listed as a laborer, Margaret 63 and his son John 22 a raftsman are living in South Algona Township. From 1851 to 1901, the Partridge and Stoqua families occupied lands around Renfrew County living mostly as hunters and fishermen. The Stoqua family shifted from Westmeath Township in 1851 and 1861, to Petawawa, Buchanan and Mckay Townships in 1861, Algona Township in 1871, 1891 and 1901 and Pembroke Township and Fort William, Quebec in 1881. In 1868, the Indian Affairs Census data recorded 185 Golden Lake Indians in the County of Renfrew and 85 Golden Lake Indians, Province of Quebec.
