Amanda: Yoga felt awesome as always. You never really notice how tight you are until you either do yoga or get a massage. Oh yeah!!! I am currently laying on a couple of tennis balls and found a really good knot. If you have never used a foam roller, tennis ball or golf ball to work out your kinks, youve gotta try it. You place the ball on the area you want to work. I am working my back, so I placed two tennis balls on either side of my spine between my shoulder blades, and I am just hanging out. Some people like only a few seconds in each place, but if you can tolerate longer without feeling bruised, go for it! Then, when you are ready, move the balls just a bit and hang out again. You can also use just one ball and work one side at a time. Some prefer one way over the other. If you need more pressure, you can switch from a tennis ball to a golf ball, but usually a tennis ball is sufficient. You can work your back like this or you can work your bum. Its slightly more awkward, and you kind of have to lay/sit to finagle your way to all the good spots. Some people I massage keep a tennis ball at their office or in their car so they can help release tension and pain while they are working/driving. If you suffer from sore feet or plantar fasciitis, you can stand up and place the tennis ball under your foot. Holding on to something to maintain your balance, lean your body weight into that foot and roll it around. Feels pretty amazing!!! Laying on the floor with the tennis balls between my shoulder blades also serves another purpose. It helps to stretch my chest out a bit, and while holding my tablet up in the air, I am able to keep my head in neutral position. Most of the activities I do on a daily basis keep my head flexed down towards my chest at various angles. Whether it be reading or texting or looking at Amber when I am holding her or looking down at my clients when I am massaging them or sitting in a recliner, my head is usually bent forward which causes a complete lack of curvature in my neck. Anything I can do to help that is a good thing! Feel free to share this post as I know most people love finding very affordable, easy ways to feel better!!! ;-)
