Maho Beach on Saint Martin Island (the dutch side of the Caribbean) is famous for its airport and plane landings which fly extremely close to the beach. Maho Beach isn’t your typical blue sea, golden sands relaxing soak up the sun beach. In fact tourists flock to Maho Beach for the exact opposite reason; it’s epic plane landings! People have been to be blown into the water from the beach due to the planes jet blast. Princess Juliana International Airport is positioned directly after the short beach and has an unusually short runway (2180 meters). Therefore, a smooth landing requires the pilot to land at the very beginning of the runway.
