Amazing weekend at the Runners World Half & Festival representing Team Red, White & Blue. If you ever have the chance to attend this event I would HIGHLY recommend it! It was not what I was expecting at all. As the editor in chief of Runners World put it They did not want a race where people came, picked up their bibs, ran, and went home. I would definitely say they hit their mark. Tremendous energy all weekend. They had something to offer for everyone...kids races, 5k, 10k, half marathon, and even a dogs run! I meet the most amazing people over the weekend from all over the country. I heard some very inspirational stories over the course of the weekend. One thing became clear to me...runners come in all shapes and sizes and ability levels. Whether you were an elite athlete or a walker, you were treated the same at the festival. All connected through running! The runner/comedian was hilarious. Vendors were extremely friendly and helpful! The folks from Altra Running Shoes were extremely generous. I absolutely loved carrying Old Glory in races like this! The energy you get from other runners and the crowd as they scream things like Murica and theres Flag Man is astounding! I often forgot I was even running. When I do get tired, the Flag is there as a reminder of friends and other heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice...as a reminder that we still have Warriors carrying a heavy burden to protect our freedoms. Often asked, does it slow you down? HELL NO! Carrying the Flag gives me a whole new energy source! Last thing - the Eagle is everywhere! I ran into people from Team RWB from places like: Watertown, Houston, Washington DC, Philly, New Jersey, Cleveland, and Las Vegas. Those who are not affiliated with Team RWB knew what the Eagle was all about! Between wearing the Eagle and carrying Old Glory, I felt like I had an instant fan club...and a much bigger family. Very grateful that I was able to be a part of this awesome event and spend time with some of the most amazing people in the world! #EagleEthos
