Amazon just reported a huge jump in sales of my 2009 book, Emergent Music And Visual Music: Inside Studies from a project that also includes another book, 7 CDs and 5 DVDs which all continue to sell at a steady modest rate which is consistent with targeting libraries. Its way too early to attribute a sales bump to the holidays like last year. And given that academic musicians are very slow to change their thinking (lots of practice room time required) I figure it must be people in Art departments designing classes around the idea of visual music and who knows, the art folks may be getting involved in creating emergent music ahead of the music departments. As you might expect, Amazon only reports the money side of projects, not the to whom and where of purchases so Im in the dark on those details.
