America is a spiritual ghetto. Although some may think otherwise it is indeed a restriction on the ability to work outside of the godboxes people attend weekly, daily, hourly. It restricts the use of sacred sites that were and to some extent used by Original Peoples (OPs) and that adjustment period of the 1900s to go underground and protect our cultures. The period included on-going policies all in favor of Americans regarding land, and the deteriorating hold we should have on any treaties--let alone the idea that it is still legally and morally Native. OPs had to adjust, adapt and in some cases adopt foreign ways of material and individualism by joining forces with the so-called winning side and re-coin the cliche if you cant beat em, join em and play their game. Too often that made it a lose-win, cowboys and Indians game of rationalizing defeat and accepting the idea of a hopeless situation on the razorvation. Some would say it was a survival tactic. Today at a university - pointing the shame that America hides behind that is why the deeper our roots go as OPs the more they cover it up by coopting our history, our worldviews, our lands, our words, and the list is endless. to be continued
