American Cruise Lines Introduces 2013 Holiday Cruises July 14, 2013 7:00 PM American Cruise Lines is offering several Christmas and New Year’s Eve cruises this winter. The 150-passenger Queen of the Mississippi will operate the eight-day “Cajun Christmas” departing round-trip from New Orleans on Dec. 21 and Dec. 28. Events include the Christmas Eve tradition of Bonfires on the Levee, a Christmas concert at the JN Stone House in Natchez, viewing Christmas décor and light at Oak Alley and Houmas House plantations, a Reveillon dinner (a New Orleans Creole tradition), gingerbread house and ornament making and more. The 104-passenger Independence will depart Dec. 21 and Dec. 28 on the “Historic South & Golden Isles” cruise between Jacksonville, Fla., and Charleston, S.C. Events include an oyster roast on the beach at Sapelo Island, a tour of the Ritz Carlton’s gingerbread houses on Amelia Island, a holiday tour at the Jekyll Island Club, the Charleston Festival of Lights, a holiday décor mansion tour in Charleston and more. The Dec. 28 departures include a specialty cocktail hour, a New Year’s Eve dinner with entertainment, a midnight countdown and champagne toast, and a New Year’s Day brunch. The company says other holiday-themed cruises are also planned for the 2013 season, including Thanksgiving and Hanukkah.
